See who the government pays to do your kind of work.
Government agencies hire outside companies for plumbing, roofing, paving, janitorial work and dozens of other trades. What they paid, and who they paid it to, is public record. Pick your state and your trade below and read it.

How this works
- Pick your state and your trade. Every page covers exactly one of each, for one fiscal year. Nothing is averaged and nothing is projected.
- Read the ledger. You get the total that was paid, the agencies or the government that paid it, and up to 25 named companies ranked by what they collected — with your own company sitting at $0 for comparison.
- Check how the number was made. Each figure states its fiscal year and how the work was classified, so you can see how firm it is before you rely on it. The method page shows the counting rules in full.
Want the whole list instead of the top 25, as spreadsheets you can sort and filter? That is what the paid plans are.
In depth: Virginia and Florida
Two states publish enough detail to break a trade down line by line.
Most states do not publish what was bought, only who was paid. Virginia and Florida publish enough to go further, so these two get their own deeper pages. Pick a trade to see both side by side.

The ledger you are not on
This is what one trade in one state looks like.
Virginia paid $54.92M on purchase-order lines carrying a roofing commodity code in FY2026. 80 vendors appear in the file for that trade, 2 of them flagged as small or SWAM businesses.
The companies below are not household names. They are contractors who registered, watched the buying, and bid.

High confidence — Virginia FY2026. Virginia records an official NIGP commodity code on every purchase-order line, so each dollar here is tagged with what was actually bought. 1,901,705 purchase-order lines were read for FY2026 and only the lines carrying a commodity code for this trade are counted. Florida, counted a different way
Paid to firms read as roofing contractors in Florida, FY2026, across 320 payment lines and 94 firms.
Lower confidence — Florida FY2026. Florida does not publish a commodity code with its vendor payments, so the trade is inferred from the company's name: a firm named "Chinchor Electric Inc" is read as an electrical contractor. This undercounts firms whose name does not state their trade — a plumbing company called "Sunshine Services LLC" is invisible to this method. 3,395,919 payment lines were read for FY2026. Treat these figures as a floor, not a full count. Source: Florida vendor payments, myfloridacfo.com.
Why Florida reads lower
Florida's payment file names the vendor and the amount but not what was bought. Reading the trade from the company name catches "Advanced Roofing Inc" and misses "Gulf Coast Services LLC". The Florida number is therefore smaller than the real spend, and we do not correct it upward with an estimate.
Federal spending, kept separate
Federal prime contract obligations under NAICS 238160, roofing contractors, FY2025.
Federal prime contract obligations are a third data set: a different government, a different fiscal year, and classification by NAICS code rather than by state commodity code. They live in their own section and are never added to a state figure.

How the two states are counted
Virginia — high confidence
1,901,705 purchase-order lines for FY2026. Virginia records an official NIGP commodity code on every line, so each dollar is tagged with what was actually bought.
Florida — lower confidence
3,395,919 vendor payment lines for FY2026. Florida publishes no commodity code, so the trade is read from the company's name. Firms whose name does not state their trade are missed, so these figures are a floor.
The two states are counted differently and are never added together. There is no combined figure on this site. Read the full method →
Plain answers
Why are Virginia and Florida never added together?
Because they are not counted the same way. Virginia's dollars are classified by the official NIGP commodity code recorded on each purchase-order line. Florida's are classified by reading the company's name, because Florida publishes no commodity code. Adding a measured number to an inferred number produces a figure that means nothing, so this site does not print one.
Is this every dollar the state spent in my trade?
No. Virginia covers purchase-order lines that carry a commodity code for the trade in FY2026. Florida covers vendor payment lines whose payee name states the trade in FY2026. Both exclude spending recorded in ways the source file does not expose, and Florida in particular is a floor.
Do you tell me whether I would win this work?
No. This site reports what was bought and who was paid. It makes no claim about your chances and publishes no figure about outcomes.
Which states are covered today?
Virginia and Florida, plus a separate federal data set. No figure on this site spans more than one state.
Where do the numbers come from?
Virginia eVA procurement data (data.virginia.gov), Florida vendor payments (myfloridacfo.com) and federal prime contract obligations (usaspending.gov). The method page names the exact file behind each figure.
